Halloween War Zone

Halloween War Zone

Rob and I decided to stay in last night and avoid the mobs, martial law and gunfire (don’t click that link mom) that come with Halloween in the Castro. To be honest, this forced relaxation was kind of nice.

We had black bean tacos, carved pumpkins, roasted the seeds and failed at making pumpkin bread. I realized too late that this was the same stupid recipe that didn’t work last year either. Jordan and Paul dropped by briefly, so we weren’t total hermits. And oddly enough, Rob and I both slept like babies despite the buzzing helicopters and sirens.

Maybe next year, I’ll plan a party for the other refugees in our building. Our downstairs lobby has plenty of room for people from all 12 apartments to commiserate over our situation with hot cider and cake.

Darn it! That is same “stupid” recipe again. Maybe it is me, not the recipe. I always comes out super doughy, like it doesn’t have any baking power in it at all.
